What kind of workshops does Chris run?
Chris runs harmony singing workshops for any group of people aged 16 and over. He can create beautiful harmonies very quickly, regardless of a group's singing experience. He teaches all songs by ear and no prior singing background is necessary.
Chris offers a range of workshops on specific themes. He can also design a workshop for your specific interests. He can work with groups from 10 to 400 and everything in between. You might want him to run a workshop for your choir. Or, he can help you with advice and publicity to set up a public workshop in your location. You just have to find the venue and the people!
Chris's special interest is World Music. In particular Eastern European and African song. He also runs gospel, sacred songs and British folk song workshops amongst others.
How soon should I book and how much does it cost?
Chris is available to work anywhere in the UK (and beyond!) and is open to booking enquiries at least six months in advance. If the workshop involves travel, it needs to be at least one day or a whole weekend. Shorter workshops are also available, but they cannot be too far from his base near Ipswich.
The usual fee for a one-day workshop is £500 plus travel expenses (train journey or car at 45p per mile). A whole singing day lasts around six hours, including a one-hour lunch break. There is often scope for negotiation depending on your circumstances. For any venues more than two-hours drive from Ipswich, Chris needs overnight accommodation. For shorter workshops fees start at around £100 per hour (for up to two hours), to around £250 for half a day (2.5 hours).
